Pontiac Cruise Night is a non-profit organization in Pontiac, IL established in 2005 by Gary Bright and Tom Dunham, both car enthusiasts of the Pontiac area. Gary’s involvement and connection with the Morris Cruise Night being a committee member for several years and Tom, the president of the Rustic Auto Club (Hang Loose Event) an established car club of the area. Thru the efforts and support of the local community the Cruise Night Events have become a major event in downtown that is fun, inviting, and has something to offer for everyone and provides support to local charities as the benefactor.
The Cruise Night events are held on the 3rdSaturday during the summer months around the Court House Square in downtown Pontiac. The amenities include food, DJ music, cruising the square, hot wheels racing, 50/50 raffles, door prizes. Also, the museums are open select hours; the cruise night has a great venue that’s endless. The atmosphere in this rural community is laid back, and very car friendly as one of the major tourist attractions is the Pontiac-Oakland Automobile Museum.
Plan to come early, the activities begin the moment you arrive; there is shopping, restaurants, 5 Museums well worth the trip alone, or 22 wall-size murals, or the route 66 museum you might even run into the “Mayor” Bob Russell himself on your visit. Pontiac is one of the friendliest towns you’ll visit, and all of the museums are “free” and are located throughout the downtown area so bring the family we would love to see you.
